Course Overview

Our HAZWOPER 8 hour refresher course fulfills all requirements set forth by the OSHA Standards for General Industry 29 CFR 1910.120. Workers who require the HAZWOPER 8 hour refresher can maintain their HAZWOPER certification from the comfort of their own home. This course covers topic found in the OSHA Standards for General Industry 29 CFR 1910.120 including respiratory equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), site control, medical surveillance, air monitoring, safety hazards, hazardous chemicals, safety and health plans, and HAZWOPER regulations.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Read and understand OSHA regulations and requirements
  2. Use Site Characterization to identify hazards found in the workplace and steps to be taken to minimize hazards
  3. Understand the principles of toxicology and how they relate to various types of chemical exposures stand its purpose
  4. Identify the uses for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and how to choose the correct PPE for a situation
  5. Understand the principles of decontamination as well as levels of decontamination and decontamination methods
  6. Have a better understanding of potentially hazardous situations involving corrosives, solvents, oxidizers, and reactive chemicals
  7. Understand the various considerations in an emergency and the importance of training and actions to personal safety and the safety of others

Additional Information

Testing:

All module quizzes require a score of 70 to proceed forward in the course. The final exam also requires a minimum score of 70 to receive a certificate of completion. The final exam may be taken three times if necessary.

Time to completion:

Once you enroll in the HAZWOPER 8 hour refresher course you will have 6 months to successfully complete the course. If you do not complete the course in 6 months you will not receive a certificate for course completion.

A temporary printable certificate will be made available immediately upon successful completion of course.

Note: Workers must have 24 hours of initial training and one day of supervised field experience before they are allowed to enter the site.

The online course meets the standard requirement of 24hrs of initial training. The one day field experience under a trained, experienced supervisor is the responsibility of the student's employer or potential employer
